It seems my new position as Director of the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board (VIREB) is bringing some luck with it. The day I flew out for the Banff Conference I received an exclusive listing, and this time around I received two MLS listings the day before. If this starts to hold true I will have to start attending more real estate conferences.

On the drive down to Nanaimo for Vancouver Island Real Estate Board's 60th anniversay and AGM there were more cars than I have ever seen in the ditch before and lots of evidence of cars thad had hit the ditch earlier. I consider myself a pretty good winter driver, but there were parts where I didn't even feel comfortable driving over 60km/h. I know some of my colleagues only managed an average of 35km/h or even had to turn back.

The event started off with a Tech Fair which unfortunately felt redundant after going to the Banff conference, but Mike Agerbo's presentation on Tech Tools was great and I'm sure I will be able to use some of the items he disccussed to make my life a little easier.

The 60th Anniversary party was great with music from the Time Benders. The Realtor Care awards were presented and local Realtor, Harmony Dyck, from Royal LePage won . It was great to see her win such an important award for her fundraising with Y.A.N.A. The event gave the two of us a chance to talk about future fundraising for Y.A.N.A. and how VIREB could get involved.

The AGM went smoothly which I think is a pretty good indication that last years directors did a pretty good job. Some complaints were made about Webforms (real estate contract software) and although this is the Canadia Real Estate Association's(CREA's) department it was important to hear so that we can put a little pressure on CREA to fix things. George Pahud, President of CREA was in attendance so at least we know the complaint made it right to the top of the organization. At the end of the AGM the new VIREB Directors and I were officially sworn in.
